Gyrospcope : Driving For The Storm
The Undercover Review
Well here they are, the much talked boys from W.A., Gyroscope.
Haven't heard much about them? Now THIS is a band to search out. They have the attitude and originality of At The Drive-in, but their live show doesn't feature them being so anally retentive that if you stood too close to the band you'd be sucked right up there (like some bands already mentioned in this review ).
They have the force of a nuclear bomb and they've got a little bit of Australia to thank for it. They didn't go overseas to record, choosing instead to record in their home town and as a result have a great sounding release to show for it. Smart boys, putting their budget towards recording and not airfares.
The two studio tracks sound sharp, particularly as 'Doctor, Doctor' is winding up to a close and Daniel Sanders is belting out the title line. Their two live tracks, 'Fire Away' and the inexplicably titled 'I've Been Struck By Lightening Once So What's The Chance of it Happening Again?' show the band in full swing with amps turned up to eleven and the crowd getting into it.
Take it from someone who's seen them first hand, these boys should not be missed.
