gyroscope., Ballpoint, Headshot, Times Up

At the Hydey Park Hotel on the 28th Oct, 2000
Arrived at the Hydey straight from the airport. Caught up with friends straight away and found out Times Up had already played, and pretty good from what I was told. After having a middy Headshot came on. This band has a lot of energy onstage but I don't really get into them a great deal, however at times they were doing okay. As far as song titles go I wouldn't have a clue but I know they played 'Product Placement'. Joey K didn't have a shirt on this time so he ripped his t shirt to show himself off. They were good to have a jug too.

How different would it be for Ballpoint, definately no jugs around as everyone sensed something was gonna happen in the pit. I had been amping to see these guys since I went over east and they didn't let myself or anyone else down with a blinder of a set which was made even more sweeter with the huge pit that eventuated. Bodies were flying all over the joint while Ballpoint played tracks such as 'Maintain', 'Reach The Sky', 'Magnetik' and some newies (which sound heavier). It was good to see Burgs and Craig inside the Hydey for once and they made the most of it getting in the pit with the rest of us and also seeing the windmilling of Tom and Weas. Ballpoint were grinning from ear to ear seeing the response they were getting from the packed crowd, the atmosphere was something that rarely occurs in Perth - especially local gigs. The guys finished up with 'Stranglehold' and 'Miles Away' and the pit going crazy for one last time. Once it was over there were a lot of battered bodies.

gyroscope. had the huge feat of emulating Ballpoint's set musically, there was no chance of a repeat pit!! It didn't really help that a few people had decided to leave after Ballpoint but in anycase gyroscope. put on a really top set. They were moving around the Hydey heaps and seemed to be having a lot of fun. A few of the ep tracks were played aswell as some newies and overall they played pretty damn fine. The atmosphere that eventuated from Ballpoint's set had disappeared but the gyro lads musically were very very polished in their performance. Definately the best local gig for the year, it was that good. I'm actually trying to think of a local show that was better. Needless to say if you weren't there, you missed out bigtime. What a great way to come back from a holiday!!
