2000 australian punk

gyroscope., Selfless, Waste Of Space, The Fergusons, The Critics, Times Up

On the 8th December @ the Grosvenor Frontroom
First band up were Times Up and they played a blinder of a set I thought. A lot of people were saying how impressed they were by their performance and how much they have improved. Ben's vocals are really good and they were very tight with their melodic punk a perfect start to the night.

The Critics were next and I was impressed yet again. They are definately one of the best newer bands in Perth at the moment and all they need to do now is get a bit of a stage act, just standing their isn't visually exciting. Their last song again is just a ripper, I can't put in words how good it is. Excellent stuff.

A band I had never seen before, The Fergusons were next and they weren't that good as far as I can remember - which isn't much as I sat in the beer garden for the majority of their set. They have three guitarists (which is very unusual) and weren't really my thing.

Constant giggers Waste Of Space were next on the Frontroom stage and got a few people moving on the floor. Several members including their shirtless guitarist Paul wandered down on the floor and got involved with the little pit that had started, while this was happening Burgs got up onstage (as he did the week before) and did his little dance complete with his beloved hat. They sounded good yet again and were no doubt in high spirits after scoring a slot on the upcoming Big Day Out festival.

Pop punkers Selfless appeared next and they were pretty damn good aswell. These guys have been around for awhile and it shows, with very solid tunes that are played pretty tight. As with all the preceeding bands they were very impressive. Look forward to seeing them again.

Last was gyroscope. in one of their final shows before drummer Rob moves overseas. The guys were entertaining like usual and seemed to be enjoying themselves with some of the crew moving around at the front. They finished up with 'Means To An End' with guest vocals from Tony, SXE Pete and Kim Neg Reply as one last pile on finished up the night on a great note.

Another really cool local show, which seems to be a common trend lately (a very positive thing) and Kat would've been very pleased with the way it turned out i'm sure. I hope you had a good birthday Kat, now your an oldie hahahahaha
